On my 2nd mini-layout a fancy-fair in a local city is the central theme. A city has a city square with a city hall. I've always loved the Borgerhout (near Antwerp) city hall, and wanted to make an 1/87th scale model of it.
Sadly, no plans were available. Taking lots of pictures, and getting some information from the local bookstore, I was able to make a blueprint. For a start, you should know what the building looks like, so here are some pictures:
One of the things I encountered during research: the tower hosts a "beiaard": lots of bells, that can be played like a giant piano. Should I model this, too? Including sound? That's yet another challenge. I concluded that getting the building to look right should be a good start for now.
